Swiss dairy company Emmi to acquire Hochstrasser coffee roaster

Lucerne - The Emmi Group is to acquire coffee roaster Hochstrasser after a 20-year partnership. The dairy manufacturer is aiming to boost its coffee expertise for the Emmi Caffè Latte brand and improve Hochstrasser’s market position.

The Emmi Group, which is based in Lucerne, Switzerland, is set to acquire the coffee roaster Hochstrasser AG. According to a press release, the two companies have had a successful 20-year partnership and are united in their commitment to quality and taste. "With the acquisition of the renowned coffee roaster Hochstrasser in Lucerne, we are elevating our coffee expertise to further strengthen our iconic and innovative Emmi Caffè Latte brand", says Marc Heim, Executive Vice President Switzerland at Emmi. "This will bring together strong expertise in producing highest-quality premium coffee, freshly roasted in Lucerne, with the best Swiss milk". At the same time, Emmi intends to support Hochstrasser, which is also located in Lucerne, to improve its market position in the food service industry and develop its Hochstrasser and Don George brands.

Hochstrasser will continue to be run as an independent company, with Kevin Heer as Managing Director and René Vesti and Gery Camenzind as board members. The press release explains that Hochstrasser’s 50 employees will be retained, as will its customers in the food service and hotel sectors. The transaction will be completed subject to the approval of the competition authorities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
