Wascosa shifting more freight transport to rail in partnership with TX Logistik

Lucerne/Troisdorf/Verona - The Lucerne-based firm Wascosa has ordered 125 NiKRASA handling system plates from TX Logistik. Wascosa, which specializes in the rental of rail freight wagons and is lead by CEO Iris Hilb, will in future offer it as a new standard service in order to shift a greater volume of freight transport from trucks on the roads to the railways.

Wascosa AG, headquartered in Lucerne, Switzerland, has expanded its partnership with TX Logistik from Troisdorf in Bavaria, Germany. As detailed in a press release, this primarily covers the further development of the existing cooperation with regard to the freight wagon rental business and the cooperation to market the NiKRASA handling system.

With this plate system developed by TX Logistik, non-craneable trailers can be loaded onto rail quickly and easily. According to the information, non-craneable semi-trailers currently account for around 90 percent of the European truck fleet.

Wascosa, which is owned by Mercitalia Logistics (FS Italiane Group), has placed a first order for 125 NiKRASA plates at a value of around 3 million euros with TX Logistik. The handling system was presented at Terminal Quadrante Europe in Verona in parallel with the conclusion of the contract. «We want to contribute to achieving the climate targets and ensure that shifting freight from road to rail is simple and possible for anyone interested», as Ugo Dibenario, CEO of TX Logistik, is quoted as saying.

«The NiKRASA solution fits perfectly into our market strategy to generate customer value in rail freight logistics and at the same time supports the shift to rail», comments Iris Hilb, CEO of Wascosa, before adding: «In future, we will offer the handling system as a standard new service for the renting of pocket wagons to make it easier for shippers to enter the world of combined transport».
