Transport museum forms new management

Lucerne - The Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne counted more than 1 million visitors in 2024. The museum is starting the new year with a reassembled executive board. Ute Dotti Gut will take over the management of exhibitions and collections. Esther Schneider will be responsible for finances and central services in future.

The Swiss Museum of Transport has started the new year with a reassembled management team according to a press release from the transport and communication museum in Lucerne. Ute Dotti Gut has taken on the role of head of exhibitions and collections. She will be following on from Daniel Geissmann, who is retiring after 14 years of service.

According to the press release, an experienced finance expert will be joining the museum’s management in the form of Esther Schneider. The former head of finance at Biral Group will be responsible for funding and central services at the transport museum. Martin Ettlinger will continue to hold his position as the head of development and marketing. The transport and communication museum’s management will be completed by Martin Bütikofer, who has previously held the role of director.

The museum welcomed 1,015,868 visitors last year. This means that 1.4 percent more entrance tickets were bought versus 2023. The museum management attributes the positive trend to the continuous further development of the museum’s offering, among other things. The press release gives the return of the Gotthard railway model, the Pilatus aircraft exhibition, and planetarium day as examples.

Additionally, a total of 3,000 classes were given by the educational program run by the transport and communication museum in the reporting year. Furthermore, a newly launched roadshow brought topics such as climate change, climate protection, and renewable mobility directly to schools. The roadshow reached 4,849 young people in its first year.
