Schindler awarded project in Canada

Ebikon/Vancouver - Schindler in the canton of Lucerne has been awarded the contract to provide lifts and escalators for the Canadian project Surrey Langley SkyTrain. Schindler will deliver 20 lifts and 40 escalators for eight new stations overall.

Lift and escalator manufacturer Schindler will provide the lifts and escalators for the expansion of Metro Vancouver’s transportation network in the Canadian province of British Columbia. According to a press release, Schindler will deliver 20 lifts and 40 escalators for eight new stations. All lifts and escalators will be digitally connected enabling constant monitoring via the local Technical Operation Center, as the press release from the company based in Ebikon explained.

The expansion of Metro Vancouver’s Surrey Langley SkyTrain rapid transit system will reportedly connect some of the region’s fastest-growing cities. The project includes eight new stations and three new transit exchanges. «This will extend the line 16km on an elevated route from King George Station in Surrey to 203 Street in Langley City,» a representative from the Canadian project explained.

«This is an important project for the region and we are proud that Schindler was selected to provide our lifts and escalators,» commented Vikén Martarian, responsible for the Americas and Escalators on Schindler’s Group Executive Committee.

«Our partnership with South Fraser Station Partners, the contractor who will build the eight stations, is founded on trust, built by the reputation of our products and the dedication of our team,» said Lisa Konnry, President of Schindler Canada. In partnership, they want to deliver the best quality.

Surrey Langley SkyTrain construction is underway, and the current anticipated in-service date is late 2029.
