Project Greenpower in Dagmersellen enters participation phase

Dagmersellen - CKW, Galliker, Emmi, and Linde Gas Schweiz are planning an eco-network in Dagmersellen, Switzerland, for the production of energy, heat, and hydrogen. After clarifying numerous details, Project Greenpower is now open to public participation.

Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke AG (CKW), Galliker Transport, the milk processor Emmi AG, and Linde Gas Schweiz have opened up their joint Project Greenpower for public participation. The four companies from the canton of Lucerne are tackling the establishment of an energy ecosystem using wood to generate heat, energy, and biogenic CO2 in Dagmersellen. Community President Markus Riedweg commented in a press release from CKW: «Now citizens have the opportunity to learn about the project and give their views within the context of the public participation process.»

Greenpower plans to bring about a wood heating station operated by CKW. Galliker Transport plans to use some of the energy generated there to run around 500 trucks; the rest will be fed into the network. Emmi will accept some of the heat energy. Additionally, a district heating system is also planned for Dagmersellen. Linde Gas Schweiz plans to use the biogenic CO2 from the combustion process to manufacture dry ice and industrial gases.

CKW states that numerous details have been clarified regarding the change to the zone plan and a planning report has been created since the first declaration of intent was signed at the end of 2022. Public participation in the project and rezoning starts on December 2 and ends on January 5, 2025. The project managers will ask for the opinions of the general public during two question times on December 10 and December 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
