The iconic Hotel Palace Luzern on the shores of Lake Lucerne opened in 1906. It is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and will be unveiled as Mandarin Oriental Palace Luzern at the end of 2020, announced the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group of Hong Kong in a statement.
Following the completion of the renovation, Mandarin Oriental Palace Luzern will comprise 146 rooms and suites with views of the lake and mountains. There will be a restaurant, a bar, a variety of meeting facilities and a spa and fitness room.
We look forward to opening a new hotel in Switzerland, which will complement our growing portfolio in Europe, including our other Swiss hotel in Geneva, commented James Riley, Group Chief Executive of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Lake Lucerne has long been a popular destination for luxury travelers and it will now be home to one of Switzerlands most exclusive properties, he said.
Mandarin Oriental operates 32 hotels and seven residences in 23 countries. It currently has a strong pipeline of properties under development, and is a member of the Jardine Matheson Group.
