Lucerne Symphony Ball supports youth development
Lucerne - The sixth Lucerne Symphony Ball brought in net proceeds of more than 155,000 Swiss francs. This will be used to benefit the youth development of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. The charity ball was organized by the orchestra in collaboration with the House of Gübelin.
The sixth Lucerne Symphony Ball took place on November 2 at the KKL Luzern concert hall. With 350 guests, the charity event organized by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and the jeweler House of Gübelin was sold out according to a joint announcement from the organizers. The net proceeds of a total of 155,350 Swiss francs will go toward the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra’s youth development.
A tombola with around 180 prizes contributed to the net proceeds. House of Gübelin contributed its new Sparks bracelet with a value of 12,500 Swiss francs as the main prize. Raphael Gübelin, sixth-generation president of the House of Gübelin, commented in the press release: «This year, we have two reasons to celebrate: the charity ball with its multifaceted program and the 170th anniversary of our family company. With the Lucerne Symphony Ball, we are supporting the oldest symphony orchestra in Switzerland and making a lasting contribution to music promotion and appreciation.»
The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra hopes to introduce children and adolescents to symphonic music. To this end, the orchestra has launched the Orchesterfunke initiative, which means that 124 free places in the organ gallery at concerts will be reserved for young people from across the entire canton. The concert visit includes a «youth-friendly introduction» during which visitors can explore the backstage area of the KKL Luzern with accompaniment by a member of the orchestra. In addition, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra runs its own orchestra academy.
