Root/Seewen - Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin has observed Swiss company Strüby Konzept AG manufacture the first solid timber elements on its new board stacking machine in Root, in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. The timber construction company, which is based in Seewen in the canton of Schwyz, describes this fully automated machine as globally unique.

Seewen/Root - Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin has observed Swiss company Strüby Konzept AG manufacture the first solid timber elements on its new board stacking machine in Root, in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. On August 15, 2024, Swiss Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin visited Strüby’s expanded production center in Root. Together with his delegation from the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research and the Federal Office for Housing, he witnessed a world first, according to a Strüby press release.
The visitors watched the first solid timber elements being manufactured on a fully automated board stacking machine, which Strüby describes as globally unique. It was made for Strüby by Baden-Württemberg company Weinig, which specializes in timber construction machines. With this machine, Strüby plans to significantly increase its production of natural wooden ceilings.
According to the press release, the delegation was impressed with the four-hectare factory and Strüby’s range of operations on the site. They include project development, architecture, engineering, production, realization, customer service and building maintenance.
