Buttisholz - The new Dorfstrom AG has been offering services in the field of energy supply since the beginning of the year. The company headquartered in the canton of Lucerne focuses on the promotion of virtual mergers for self-consumption and the development of local electricity communities.
Dorfstrom AG from Buttisholz in the canton of Lucerne commenced operations on January 1, 2025. According to a press release, the company had been entered into the commercial register on December 3, 2024. The new company reportedly wants to deliver fresh impetus to the local energy supply in Buttisholz and other municipalities, as the press release states.
A separate website, which went live as the business commenced operations, provides information about the project and the planned cooperation between local energy producers and a platform for collaboration. «The website is a central reference point for informing residents in Buttisholz and beyond about our aims and offering», comments Oscar Küng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dorfstrom AG.
As Dorfstrom AG writes, the entry into the commercial register represented a major milestone in reimagining the local energy supply and actively driving the energy transition in the Buttisholz area. The company focuses on the promotion of virtual associations for self-consumption (vZEV) and the development of local electricity communities (LEGs). This approach is expected to allow locally produced electricity to be used directly in the respective community, thereby strengthening local value creation and reducing the dependency on large energy suppliers.
Dorfstrom AG is reportedly organizing local electricity trading to ensure efficient distribution and will work to bring producers and consumers together. The company states that it is involved in the planning, construction and operation of renewable energy plants, from solar plants to biogas plants and local wind power projects. Electricity is also stored to balance out fluctuations and to ensure the security of supply. According to the company, Dorfstrom AG supports local energy projects through investments and partnerships.
