City-Management Luzern works to revitalize the city center
Lucerne - The City-Management Luzern Association is positioning itself as the hub for revitalizing Lucerne's city centre. It has launched a platform for advertising and acquiring ground floor space in which City-Management acts as the intermediary.
City-Management Luzern has set itself the goal of revitalizing Lucerne’s city centre by acting as the hub. In its first few weeks, the association, which was founded in August 2024, laid the foundations for its plans, according to a statement from City-Management Luzern. In addition to development work and networking, it launched a platform for vacancies and relocations where anyone interested can advertise or look for ground floor space in Lucerne's city centre.
«We encourage anyone interested to get in touch with us – even if they don’t yet have a fully developed concept,» Erich Felber, City Manager Lucerne, is quoted as saying. «Access to the platform is deliberately designed to be low-threshold, and we offer support via our network to foster new ideas.»
The platform is designed to attract sustainable ideas and a wide range of shops to Lucerne city centre. Temporary use, such as pop-up concepts, is also being considered in collaboration with Temporär, the specialist for interim use of property. City-Management will act as a catalyst while also initiating projects itself, writes the statement. «In our role, we see ourselves as networking, initiating and supporting, but without acting as an organizer ourselves,» explains Felber.
The City-Management Luzern Association is supported by Lucerne City Association, Lucerne City Centre IG with the Old Town, Hirschmatt-Neustadt and Hochwacht neighbourhood associations, Luzern Hotels, GastroLuzern Region City, the City of Lucerne and the ALI Fund. A three-year pilot phase will test how well the project can be established.
