Auto AG Group joins forces with GRZ Technologies

Rothenburg/Grolley - Auto AG Group is entering into a strategic partnership with GRZ Technologies in the field of hydrogen. The bus company has acquired shares in the spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne for this reason.

Auto AG Group from Rothenburg in the Swiss canton of Lucerne is acquiring interest in GRZ Technologies, a startup from Grolley in Fribourg. The strategic partnership aims to preserve access to innovative solutions in the area of hydrogen according to a press release from the bus company. It plans to use this to develop its competences relating to hydrogen with a view to hydrogen-powered buses and commercial vehicles in future.

With this move, the transport company is investing in its hydrogen competence center and recruiting additional staff. Marco Villiger, Head of Corporate Development & Digitization at Auto AG Group, commented in the press release: “Auto AG has built up a great deal of competence in the field of hydrogen over recent years. With the new GRZ collaboration, we will maintain even greater access to new solutions.”

Furthermore, the company is planning to sell GRZ systems and components as well as to take on servicing and maintenance activities.

GRZ was founded as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in 2017. The startup is active in the renewable energy storage sector and specializes in thermal hydrogen storage and compressors.
