ANDRITZ HYDRO set to move into a new workshop site in 2028
Kriens/Buchrain - ANDRITZ HYDRO AG will be relocating its service workshop to Buchrain in 2028 in response to the planned transformation of the former Bell site in Kriens. The engineering, sales and administration departments will remain at the company’s headquarters in Kriens.
ANDRITZ HYDRO AG, a company specializing in components and services for hydroelectric power plants, is planning to relocate its service workshop from the center of Kriens in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland, to the industrial area of Buchrain, located around 10 kilometers away to the north of Lucerne city, by 2028. As the company writes in a press release, out of the total of 160 ANDRITZ HYDRO employees that work at the Kriens site, around 30 people are to be relocated and based at the new workshop in Buchrain from 2028 onwards.
According to the press release, the headquarters with engineering, sales and administration functions are set to remain in Kriens. The company states that it covers the entire value chain in the construction, maintenance and modernization of hydroelectric power plants.
Over the next few years, the site of the former Bell Maschinenfabrik, a Swiss company that manufactured water turbines, cable cars, steel bridges and other steel structures, will be redeveloped to transform it from an industrial area into a bustling new district, according to the press release. In view of the planned conversion of the former Bell site, ANDRITZ HYDRO began looking for a suitable location for its service workshop at an early stage. «This task was a real challenge», said site manager Claudio Nold, adding that: «The workshop must meet increased static requirements in addition to offering sufficient space and height». The company was also keen that its new site should be located within the wider Lucerne area, so as to ensure that it would be easily accessible for employees.
According to Nold, the relocation of the workshop will also be used to optimize procedures and processes. «We already offer customer-centric, responsive services today. This move will enable us to guarantee the highest quality of service in the future as well».
