ALSO Portugal converts to cloud-based ERP solution

Emmen/Perafita - ALSO Holding AG has adapted its subsidiary in Portugal for cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP). To achieve this, ALSO is implementing the SAP S/4HANA software. All of the companies in the group will gradually receive the new system by 2029.

The pan-European ALSO Holding AG plans to gradually convert its businesses to the cloud-based ERP solution SAP S/4HANA by 2029. According to a press release from the technology provider based in Emmen in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, it started with ALSO Portugal in February. The change comes under the aim to maximize operational excellence across the group.

According to the announcement, ALSO has made «sustainable investments» in IT over the past 14 years to achieve this. Ingo Adolphs, CTO of ALSO Holding, commented in the press release: «With the investments made, the ALSO ecosystem now has a future-proof, high-performance, and stable system environment that ideally supports the company’s continued growth.»

In 2013, ALSO introduced a business intelligence system, which was then linked to a customer relationship management system in 2015. This can optimize and expedite sales activities by analyzing customer data. Additionally, ALSO already uses a central warehouse management system at 21 out of a total of 30 sites across Europe.

ALSO has implemented SAP SucessFactors and Eightfold in its internal management processes for HR and talent searches, respectively. External experts test the security of the company’s IT systems. The group uses a combination of mirrored data centers and the cloud to prevent data loss.
