Albert Koechlin Foundation supporting another four mobility projects

Lucerne - The Albert Koechlin Stiftung has brought the sixth round of its real-world mobility lab program to a close. Four mobility projects in Central Switzerland are being promoted to the tune of 155,000 Swiss francs in total. The deadline for submissions in the next round comes at the end of April 2025.

Four mobility programs based in Central Switzerland are being supported in what is already the sixth round of the “clever unterwegs im Reallabor” program, as the Albert Koechlin Foundation (AKS) writes in a press release. In specific terms, the powerbank trailer from E-FORCE ONE, Luzernmobil, the solar-powered charging station for e-bikes in the municipality of Horw in the canton of Lucerne and the experimental road space concept of the city of Lucerne will all benefit from financial support totaling 155,000 Swiss francs overall.

At 80,000 Swiss francs, the highest individual amount of project support is awarded to E-FORCE ONE from Beckenried in the canton of Nidwalden. Together with its partner Alligator, the company has developed a powerbank trailer, which is designed to charge the battery located in the truck trailer during the loading time.

The municipality of Horw’s solar-powered charging station for e-bikes will receive 25,000 Swiss francs in promotional funding. This project implements a tweaked version of a concept that has already been successfully realized in the south of Germany with regional partners in Switzerland. The city of Lucerne’s experimental street space concept is being supported to the tune 20,000 francs. In this context, the focus is on reimagining streets as a space for living and recreational activities with the aim of creating high-quality spaces for as many users as possible.

The fourth and final project to receive support from this program round is Luzernmobil with 20,000 Swiss francs. In the Luzernmobil Challenge this year, across a period of four weeks, more than 50 people tried out alternative mobility forms rather than relying on their own cars. This funding will now allow the project to reward people who forego the use of their own car with a year’s worth of free mobility services.

In the seventh round of the program, which is already in progress, the AKS will be accepting project submissions up to the end of April next year. To be eligible, applicants must be natural or legal persons based in the cantons of Lucerne, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Schwyz or Uri.
