Lucerne Festival brings together the crème de la crème of classical music: world-famous orchestras, celebrated classical music stars and outstanding newcomers come together at the idyllic Lake Lucerne, in the heart of Switzerland, to celebrate a festival of music. The «festival headquarters» is the KKL Luzern, built by Jean Nouvel, with its outstanding concert hall, renowned for its phenomenal acoustics as well as its exquisite architecture.
The highlight of Lucerne's festival year is the almost five-week summer festival with over 100 events. There are also short festivals in spring and autumn: as part of its spring residency on the weekend around Palm Sunday, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra focuses on one composer at a time. In November, Lucerne Festival Forward, artistically and conceptually designed by musicians from the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra (LFCO), is dedicated to the music of our time.
Around 100 000 guests find their way to the Lucerne Festival every year to hear music that sounds as its creators imagined it. And this has been the case for more than 80 years!
