Markus Vaerst is new CEO of Wascosa

Lucerne - Markus Vaerst has been appointed as the new CEO of the Wascosa Group. He is succeeding Iris Hilb, who is leaving the company for personal reasons. Vaerst has been on the management team of the freight wagon leasing company since 2019 and his appointment underlines continuity within the business.

Markus Vaerst has been appointed as the new CEO of the Wascosa Group, with effect from 30 April 2025. He is succeeding Iris Hilb, who held this position from January 2023 and has decided for personal reasons to leave the international wagon leasing company based in Lucerne, as was reported in a press release.

Markus Vaerst possesses more than 35 years of experience in track logistics and the freight wagon industry. He joined Wascosa in 2019 and took on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Since the end of 2022, he has also been Chief Digital & Quality Officer, driving forward digitalization within Wascosa. According to the company, the appointment of Vaerst represents a commitment to both continuity and the importance of digitalization.

Markus Vaerst is also pleased about his new role and “looks forward to writing the next chapter in Wascosa’s success story together with dedicated employees and valued customers and partners”.
